Due to German indecisiveness and miscommunication, a band of German soldiers jumped the gun by 12 hours ahead of the official invasion of Luxembourg on August 2, 1914. They began to destroy trackage in the area of Troisvierges, but had to undo their work, as the German military needed the trackage for troop movements.
