MRL SD45 355 Makes a Quick Turn at Helena

Was looking forward to chasing this SD45 spliced LM out of town.
Was not to be. The 45 was quickly set out to the roundhouse. Guess they only needed the extra horsepower for Bozeman and Winston Hills. The LM would probably get a manned helper for Mullan.
Later in the afternoon caught some north side light on this WB manifest at Carter Street.

355 gets picked up to be an unmanned for an EB manifest.

Crew mentioned on the radio that the 355 would be set out at Livingston.

Have No Fear - 20 Cyls. Are Still Here

MRL SD45 346 is back on the Helena Switch replacing the SD40 that had paired with the 109 earlier this year.

Former Norfolk and Western 1779, would sure like to see a photo of its high hood nose being removed.
Last October on its previous stint in Helena.

Surplus But Operating - MRL 355

On an EB manifest yesterday in Helena.
The unit is in MRL's surplus catalog (link,) and has recently been stored in Livingston. Last assigment I know of was on the Helena Switch paired with GP9 109. More photos this weekend.
