FEPASA Geeps

GP9L # 7004 - GP18 # 7009 ex FEPASA - FERROBAN - GAUGE 1600MM - JAÚ-SP ( BRASIL ) - 01.08.2000 - PHOTO VANDERLEI ZAGO - COLLECTION FLÁVIO F. LAGE

Fepasa GP9L 7004 is one of only 5 built by EMD for Brazil. The "L" standing for light. The trucks appear to be the same as found on EMD's export G12s.

If You Squint......Othello, Washington (And a bit of the Blarney too)

FEPASA GP9Ls Hortolandia-SP Brasil - January 1995
Unless there is a GP18 in the consist, this is 4/5's of their GP9L roster.

I could not help but flash on Othello, Washington on the Milwaukee Road when I saw this photo sent to me by Flavio Lage. Same general topography, and catenary too. This line is Irish gauge, 5'3".  The 3000 volt electrification was de-electrified in 1999. One has to wonder  if the decision to scrap it is now regretted, but like the Milwaukee Road, it was like an isolated orphan.

How Do You Say "Little Joe" in Portuguese ?

Courtesy of my Brazilian correspondent Flavio Lage, are these photos of the FEPASA GE Little Joes.
