Northbound Amtrak Starlight and Hoyt St. bound light power, Portland, Oregon - 1995

Mt. Hood looms over the Lloyd Center district on the other side of the Willamette from this telephoto view taken from under the Fremont Bridge. Mt Hood's last eruption was in 1782. Portland is in much better shape than Tacoma, as most of the drainage systems like the Sandy and Hood River lead away from the metropolitan area.

The Northbound Starlight winds uphill from San Luis Obispo, California, about to cross Stenner Creek. A dead end road below the bridge leads to Cal Poly farmland, a denizen of which is shown below.
