2-10-2 Billiards at Cajon Summit

LA&SL 2-10-2  5528 mixes it up with some Santa Fe cabooses at Cajon Summit

UP 5528 was assigned to helper service on Cajon and may have been helping the Santa Fe eastbound.

Ammeters in the Red

WB export coal train near Martinez Spur near Cajon Summit, California in 1982.

One case where a train was really "down on its knees" going up a grade. This train of export Utah coal headed for Long Beach was down to about 3 or 4 mph going up the "easy side" of Cajon. The train took so long to pass this point that an EB SP lumber drag passed above and was gone out of frame long before the coal train had passed.
