Brett Lucas is the Senior Planner for the city of Cheney, Washington. He reports that a contractor has been hired by BNSF to explore demolition of the old Northern Pacific depot there. Brett says; "At the moment, BNSF is looking at doing the asbestos abatement this summer and to potentially have the depot demolished by the end of November. I would hate to lose the depot on my watch." Brett also relates that there is still a possibility that the depot could be moved to another location. Link to the depot in the 1930's.
A valuable piece of history, sad to think of it being destroyed.
