The Pomona Local Goes Upscale

SP Extra 3006 E. Pomona Local - Feb. 26, 1972

City of Industry Yard did dispatch one local to the east, and that was the Pomona Local. This train usually rated just two units, and often they were SW1500s, with the occasional C415. The version above not only got three Geeps, but had passenger torpedo 3006 on the point. The fenced off area to the right is the old Los Angeles Airways heliport which ceased operations the previous year. It was quite a spectacle when their jet Sikorski S61 helicopters made their stop. I am sure the decibel level was somewhere in the 120 range. Paper clips must have rattled on the desks in the downtown Pomona banks.
