Another Mystery Santa Fe Photo Location

I am guessing that these two photos, taken at the same spot, in opposite directions, are on the Harbor District. These were taken circa 1966.

From the comments just received below, here is a Google Street View of Cable and Fir. If you play around with some of the views, the tracks will appear (in 2007,) and disappear in newer images.

  2. These pictures are definitely of the Harbor District. The train is heading compass west, parallel to Florence Avenue. The location is between North Eucalyptus Avenue and North Fir Avenue and Ivy Street. If you notice on the first picture towards the left, you can see an outline of another set of tracks. This is Southern Pacific's Inglewood Branch. The Southern California Edison Plant is out of view to the right of the first picture and the left of the second picture. I hope this helps.

  3. There's a physical landmark on the first photo that Google Street View shows as still existing today. If you pan the map to the left, and face south on N. Fir Avenue, a single wooden pole immediately comes into view. That same wooden pole appears in the first picture to the right. Thanks again, pdxrailtransit, for sharing these pictures!

  4. Here's another set of photos of the same place, but even further back.
