I first attended the LA County Fair in 1965. It was quite a place for the young railfan in those days. In addition to the Gauge 3 outdoor model railroad shown above, there was also an HO club in one of the exhibit buildings that would house rabbits during the fair. There was the magnificent O Scale Citrus Empire Club under the grandstands of the horse track, and if that were not enough, the R&LHS display of 1:1 railroad equipment, including a Big Boy. One more item of interest was the Pomona Fair monorail which was admittedly pretty clunky and not all that fun to ride because it was very slow.
