One For Dan Butler - 1st Northsider - Corvallis Jct., Oregon

Gotta be my best action photo of an Espee caboose.

Corvallis Junction, Oregon, a place where myself, and my friends Harvey Smith and Dan Butler spent many an hour in the late Sixties, and early Seventies taking in the branchline action. The caboose above has just cleared the Westside Branch switch to the sharp north leg of the wye that connects to the Toledo Branch. Ahead is the "mighty" climb up Lewisburg Hill with a crest just before the old Army base of Camp Adair. The two Northsiders were essentially continuations of the MUG trains that brought empties back to Eugene from the far flung SP empire. The Westsiders, by contrasts picked up all the loads from the numerous lumber products producers. Here is an earlier post of the 1st Westsider from the same location: https://trainwatchersjournal.blogspot.com/2012/03/first-westsider-corvallis-junction.html
