Knee Deep in the Snow

Got out to do some Winter photography today after finally replacing an unreliable vehicle with one more Montana worthy. This season's snowfall did not really start until the beginning of February, following months of very mild temps and very light snowfall. Then both snowfall and low temperature records have been falling in the Helena/Great Falls area. Earlier in the week we saw a record minus 40 degrees overnight in the low spots of the Prickly Pear Valley north of Helena.

Eastbound manifest negotiates the switch at Tobin.

Looks like the Fort Harrison spur was recently used. The derail was surrounded in boot prints.

Solid GEVOs with that distinctive chug.
Almost ethereal.
