A Railfan Definition Of "The Good Old Days"

Any period of time in the past that had either motive power, a railroad, or rolling stock that just ain't around anymore. In this post, it's 1989.

Guernsey Wyoming , U30Cs are still soldiering on in coal service along with their C30-7 brethren.
Two ex Frisco U30Bs are on a light local power set at Douglas, Wyoming. They will be off the roster in three years. These were mainline locos on the Frisco.
While you can probably still find some Triclops SD60Ms running around today, not so with the cabeese. Green River, Wyoming, UP has just taken delivery of its first safety cab units.
Ogden, Utah, the new and the old.
Soldier Summit, Utah. You might find some derelict SD50 leasers at NRE in Silvis, but of course the Rio Grande is gone.
