Yellow over Lunar at Helena East with an empty coal draped over the vertical curve. |
The 840 Local sneaks through the Hwy 12 underpass. |
Next, the Jimbo Local powers through at a fast clip. |
The Jimbo had been loading wood ties in Helena for several days, and is probably coming back from distributing them. |
The coal empties depart east. |
Train was solid GATX hoppers. |
You say yellow over luna, yet in the second picture the signal in advance is green on the bottom, red on the top. This down here would indicate approach medium on the first signal clear medium on the second signal. Is the first photo's luna aspect a product of angle of distortion of the colour green as in the fourth photo, to me that is yellow over green.
ReplyDeleteDo they on MRL have this yellow over luna for the approach medium speed indication instead?

Hi Chris,
ReplyDeleteI was puzzled over the Yellow over Lunar myself. I don't have an MRL rulebook and don't know if they are the same as on the BNSF. When the coal train departed, they had to be talked through the signal displaying stop by the dispatcher.

yellow over lunar=pass next signal at restricted speed. The second picture shows restricting. (red over lunar)
