While the East Coast has been buried in snow, February in Helena has been remarkably mild, with a 61 degree record temperature recorded just a week ago (normal is 38.) Winter weather has returned, as one would expect here in the Northern Rockies. Some very dramatic snow squalls came over yesterday, and visibility at times was reduced to near zero by blowing snow. Perfect train watching weather! The above series of photographs revolve around a Pasco-Kansas City, first seen meeting a WB coal at National Ave. in Helena. A quick crew change in the yard, and then it was out to Lousiville, with news of a meet there. Going east on US 12, an attack of horizontal snow. I retreated back to East Helena, to get the embankment shot.
