Boarded up is a good sign. It means that the copper in the cab is probably intact!

Just the stylish touch of a little sheet metal.

Rungs on the right are on a coal gon.

Radiator grill, GMD GMD-1 1418, symbol on the right indicates that the unit is equipped with a seltzer bottle for mixing with some of that good Canadian whisky.
Getting out of town. Despite appearances, this was a general freight and not a unit coal train.

The GMD-1 is headed for Western Rail Inc. in Airway Heights, Washington, just west of Spokane.

I noticed a flash of red as this train came into town last Saturday. I just figured it was a CN SD70, so imagine my surprise when I came around the east corner of the depot and saw this iconic Canadian GMD-1. Time for detail photography! Wiki article on the model is here (needs improvement.) Link to Western Rail's site is here.
