Queue the Dragnet Theme

SP Police - Dolores Yard - Carson, California - 1991

As high value traffic out of the LA/Long Beach harbor really began to increase after the opening of the ICTF facility just down Avalon Blvd (to the right of this photo,) it was common to see the SP Police equipment seen above.

  1. Looks like the same Admiral stereo that I played 'Led Zeppelin I' on in 1969. In Kirkland, WA.

  2. I take that back. It was a Magnavox stereo.

I do have a 1992 Saab 900 Turbo though. Still have a photo of it when it was nearly new, pictured with the UP executive domeliner on WP track in the desert in Nevada/California, 1993. Two classics.

  3. Rod, Would love to see the Saab photo. I had a very cool Magnavox console radio. That little radio could pull in AM signals at night from 2000 miles away. Never had any other radio with such a sensitive tuner. You could also fine tune FM stations as their signals would always seem to drift. Listened to a lot of B. Mitchell Reed on KMET on that thing.
