Not that I ever drove through Taylor Yard many times, taking as many diesel pictures as I could without getting ejected by one of the guys in the dread white hard hats. One winter afternoon in 1986 I ventured up some of the streets up above Taylor west of I-5 and the LA River up in the Elysian Park area of Los Angeles to get a nice down on view of LA Diesel. There is a lot of interesting stuff here, The back row of flared 45s and tunnel motors are stored pending the reubuilding program in Sacramento, not that all would make it. I can't help but look at these photos and think just how many little packages of Details West headlights, etc., I would need to model all of these units. Note the 9115 with the classic red Scotchlite backing bleed through. I resisted the temptation to embed a Google Map of the location today, because the scene today looks like one of those surrealistic paintings of utter desolation.
