Double Over move on the CSX Hagans switchback, Hagans, Virginia

On my 1991 Appalachian states trip I met many very friendly people, including this train crew and a local fan. The CSX no longer has to do the double over move, as the tail of the switchback has been extended to accommodate an entire train.

Headed for the CV, Hagans, Virginia

A northbound coal empty proceeds to enter a tunnel which will carry it under a ridge, and across the Virginia-Kentucky state line and onto the old L&N Cumberland Valley Line, but first, there is time to stop at the portal to catch a big snake, and put it into a styrofoam cooler.
