The inconstant Mojave River has one big surprise before it dies in Soda Lake, Afton Canyon. Most of the flow of the river past Victorville is beneath the sands, but here in December there is water on the surface. In wetter times the river extended even further to Silver Lake. Oh, the train..... just another eastbound empties drag, possibly the CN.
