Kodachrome Days in Barstow

Westbound at Nebo, the donut shaped highlights are the result of using a mirror lens.

Barstow Shops, with a little help from my headlights.

  1. I have fond memories of the old Barstow yard in the sixties, watching geeps and alcos switch the yard. I would visit my cousin every summer who was a engine hostler there, running units through the wash racks and the shops, switching passenger cars, I got plenty of cab rides. Yard engineers would pick me up and drop me off just around the hill out of sight of the old tower and yard master. I recall snapping pictures of the action with my instamatic from the old bridge on 120 degree days, with alcos running underneath me and their large radiator fans blowing even hotter air in my face. Those were the days.
