It used to be the case that investigating some item of railroad interest required a trip to the library. And if you needed a good map, you had to go someplace like the UCLA Map Library, especially for foreign maps. Now with a good browser and cloud based map services, you can find the location of an intriguing railroad photograph in a few minutes. The photo below was sent to me by Brazilian railfan Flavio Lage. The pines and the tall grasses are about as enticing as the trains. My first search on Google Maps was not successful, but one needs to remember that geographic naming conventions in Portuguese may vary from English. The caption supplied by Flavio says; Uvaranas Milton Ribeiro. This search did not produce results. Subtracting the first word helped find the map below. I think that the photograph was taken from the overpass around the curve from the yard. The number of tracks works out. Another photograph, taken in the yard is here.
