GIS News - France Fines Google Maps

http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2399755,00.asp

In some ways, I sympathize with the French Cartographic cartographic company claiming unfair competition with Google, but as a devoted Google Maps user, I also think that Bottin Cartographes needs to figure out how to present their cartographic products on the web, so as to compete with Google. It would be a different story if Google was actually stealing their maps. The French were major pioneers in cartography, after all, Napoleon needed to map all his conquests, but this is not the early Nineteenth Century!
