MK EMD rebuilds get a chance to fade again on the SP at Montclair, California in March of 2003.

Climbing Beaumont Hill and crossing the Whitwater River at West Palm Springs, California in 1979

SP C-628 3135 in hump trim service at West Colton, 1979
Finally, Cotton Belt units get nose lettering! Crossing the LA River with Sealand containers bound for the ICTF

Always one of my favorite SP units, the straight 40,  Eastbound near Ordway.

West Colton by smog and sodium vapor. SD45R 7555 has kept its Gyralites, but sports Santa Fe style numberboards.

Almost a world away and on a line with very high milepost numbers, the WB Batterson Turn passes the leaky water tank at Cochran, Oregon, July 1983.

  1. It looks like the same type of paint that Datsun 240,260,and 280Zs were painted with.

    Love the photos.

    Thanks.
