The Business of a Railroad, Southern Pacific, Albany, Oregon - Carloadings

Make an extra pot of coffee, it looks we have a lot of work to do, and don't forget the Valley and Siletz!
Carloadings for Millersburg, Oregon 1981-1983

Carloadings for Page (Albany,) Oregon 1981-1983

Note that the date range for the '80s data above encompasses the "Reagan Recession." This might explain the reduction in plywood loads from SWF Plywood by almost half. There is precipitous decline in canned goods from National Fruit. As you can see, Western Kraft in Millersburg was a huge customer. Many loads of wood chips. The huge pile of chips at their dump was a major landmark on I-5 travelling north of Albany. Kraft paper is not only used for bags, it is also the main component of corrugated cardboard boxes.
