EMD Spartan Cab 645s Live on the MRL

Firstly, I must thank Dave Franz from the MRL email list for the heads up on this train. This is the SPOLAU for 11/13 attacking the beginning of Winston Hill at East Helena.

This reverse curve gets the line out of the Prickly Pear Valley and up onto Winston Hill. East Helena was a pretty happening place when the Asarco Refinery was still in operation. Country star Charlie Pride once worked at the smelter and played for the minor league baseball team The East Helena Smelterites.

Almost down on his knees at Louisville.

A splendid day for November. The Big Belt Mountains form the backdrop.

At the very convenient farm crossing at the east end of Louisville.

God bless power hours owed to the BNSF!

MRL's Travelling Wilburys

Been trying to think up a nickname for MRL's 3 HP return SD40s 250, 253 & 255.  Yes, there were more than three Traveling Wilburys, but like the band, the SD40s bring an old sound in classic bodies.

Helena Yard, yesterday.

Head Lane, Picking up a helper.

Splitting the signals at Tobin, end of double track.
