Snow - Number One - Just a Little Bit


Union Pacific westbound CLS, the California Livestock Special, at Caliente, Nevada 1980. On the right is the wye connecting the old Pioche Branch. I spent the previous night up the line by the Utah border in my little Honda. The low was five below zero, so cold, that the vinyl on my car seat cracked with pressure exerted by my hand. I am sure that the pigs were cold too. Many of them might well end up inside Dodger Dogs, from Clougherty Packing (Farmer John,) in Vernon, California.
