Battle for Debaltseve Ukraine

From a Los Angeles Times article today, the following is the lead sentence:

" Ukraine withdrew its troops from the strategic encircled railway junction of Debaltseve on Wednesday after weeks of fierce fighting against pro-Russia separatists, the country’s president announced."

Change the players and this could be a story from WWII, railways remain something people fight and die over.  A look at the Google Map below shows significant yards, and two junctions:
