R.I.P. Jack Vance - August 28, 1916 – May 26, 2013

Jack Vance, two time Hugo award winning science fiction writer, passed away May 26. I discovered his writing at the age of 19, and spent the next several years reading and collecting practically everything he wrote. His was the perfect escapist literature for the young college student looking for an alternative to lengthy academic monographs. His work usually contained elements of both the magical and the anthropological.  His novella, The Moon Moth would make a fabulous motion picture, but no one making science fiction movies in Hollywood is even that sophisticated to recognize such work.
