Triple Transportation Corridor - Sullivan's Gulch - Portland, Oregon

UP 5324 East on the Graham Line heading up Sullivan's Gulch in Portland, Oregon
TriMet Max station is Hollywood/39th St

Sullivan's Gulch, as a topographical feature, dates back to the Missoula Floods. The gulch was once a wooded riparian oasis fed by springs, but now hosts three rights of way; the UP Graham Line, the TriMet eastside mainstem to Gateway Transit Center, and Interstate 84. Just don't eat from any of those Himalayan blackberry bushes on the right, the brown foliage is the result of a spray of herbicide.

Photo taken from the pedestrian bridge to the TriMet station center left. The beige building on the left is Hollywood Bowl, where the sound of passing UP trains does get heard over the clatter of bowling pins. A short walk to the north takes you the walk-able Hollywood District, named after the Hollywood Theatre, which mostly shows art films these days.

The movie Senna, by the way, is excellent. It is the story of the late Ayrton Senna, the last driver to be killed in a Formula One race.

The Hobby Smith, one of two all model railroad stores in Portland, is located in the Hollywood District.
