3000 Ft. Snow Level in the San Gabriels

Freshly rebuilt SP GP35  6321 leads a WB through Spadra, California - March of 1979

A really low snow level in the San Gabriels is always a real treat, and after a Pacific storm blows through it can be quite a spectacular sight. From left to right is Throop Peak, Mt. Baden Powell, Mt. Baldy, Ontario Peak, and part of Cucamonga Peak. The concrete structures on the right are irrigation standpipes for Cal Poly Pomona's research farm. The two photos below show how rapidly the ridgeline of the San Gabriels plummets to the east.
