SP S12 2111 switching the south end of Eugene Yard - 1971 |
Eugene Yard had by far the biggest concentration of S12s on the Oregon Div. At any one time there might have been a 4-5 switching, with a lot more congregated around the turntable. Note the veneer car. Nothing was quite as fragrant, and it was fun (and sometimes scary) to watch the load shift and creak during switch moves. Note the cab mounted Nathan P-3 horn instead of a hood mounted single chime WABCO.
