Lighters on the Rhine

I knew that lighters were used to ferry cargo from European port cities up inland waterways, but I had no idea that they were stackable. Somewhere up the Rhine, there must be a very large crane!

Postscript: The more I think about it, these must be empty, and are headed downstream, and not up.
