With a Flare

Worthy replacements for Southern Pacific's huge fleet of freight F-Units, were the carrier's fleet of flared radiator  SD-45s.  Below is gallery from the days before the GRIP rebuilds.

Train 706 E. crests the hill between Corvallis and Philomath, Oregon. Summer 1973. The 9099 was featured on one of Espee's single sheet monthly calendars with a train of brand new Gunderson boxcars, taken at Alford, Oregon in the rain.
