The Chino Branch

SP Chino Local crossing over the Union Pacific main at Pomona, California.  The SP had about a 20 minute wait  to get the switches out of time.
Crossing First Street and heading onto the branch.

Switching the team track. A lot of lumber products and sheet rock were unloaded here.

Crossing under  Hwy 60, the Pomona Fwy.

Downtown Chino, note the dairy feed mill on the left, a source of traffic.

  1. Super photos!! The branch line turnout in the top photo was at First St. and Reservoir St. in Pomona commonly named "The Chino Spur." The intersection now has an underpass as part of the Alameda Corridor East project. The spur line was moved a short distance east to accommodate the branch line. The area SP is switching is still used on occasion. Grain hoppers are still seen there. A plant off Philadelphia St. is still served by rail.
